This involves building a culture of genuine care-giving within our community. We believe providing support and pastoral care to those within the church is not only the responsibility of church leaders, but of everyone who calls Shore home. We are a family, and family members look after each other.
At Shore, Pastoral Care takes many forms. Often it simply involves visiting, listening, encouraging, sharing and praying with those who are hurting. When appropriate, needs are referred to counsellors or other professionals who can provide specialised care. Our elders are available to pray with those who are sick or struggling. Through our meal ministry, members of Shore provide meals for families of new babies and others going through difficult times. We also facilitate practical help such as transportation, babysitting, house-moving and gardening, when possible. Our prayer chain allows needs to be shared with others in the church who are committed to praying for these circumstances.
A primary source of pastoral care at Shore happens through Life Groups. Life Groups provide an avenue through which families and individuals can be cared for as needs are shared with the group. When a need is beyond the resources of a Life Group, the Pastoral Care Coordinator helps to assess the needs and seeks to co-ordinate the necessary support from the elders, prayer team, and outside resources. If you have a particular need, or would like more information about Pastoral Care, contact our Pastoral Care Coordinator, Biffy Savage - biffy@shore.org.nz, ph. 415 0455.
Shore has a relief fund which provides monetary assistance to those in our church community who are struggling financially. The fund is sustained by donations and relies on the goodwill of people within the church. It can provide gifts or loans to those who need financial assistance. To donate to the relief fund, use this bank account number: 12-3119-0062915-53. To apply for financial assistance from the relief fund, you can download this application form.
